Third graders came to the library this week to learn about orphan elephants through non-fiction text features. Students previewed pictures with captions, titles, headings, and a map before reading the article, Little Orphan Elephants. The text features help students with understanding what they are reading. Check out their predictions in the hallway!

The fantastic author, Phil Bildner, is coming to Berkman. We are so excited for him to finally come meet our fabulous third, fourth, and fifth grade students here at Berkman.
In preparation for Mr. Bildner's visit, we are asking that every third, fourth, and fifth grade student visit the library to read at least one of his books.
In addition, the library is also hosting a contest to win one of Mr. Bildner's autographed books. To enter the contest, students must submit their answers to the Phil Bildner Contest. Please see Mrs. Day or Mrs. Roberts for more information.
